This vintage 1988 Santa Claus figure is a wonderful piece of handmade American Christmas folk art. Crafted from wood and hand-painted in warm traditional holiday colors, Santa is shown wearing a long red coat with dark faux-fur-style trim and holding a festive Christmas wreath. X26
One of the most distinctive features is Santa’s dimensional raised face and beard, which adds depth and character to the otherwise flat wooden figure. The rustic hand-painted finish gives the piece a charming primitive/country appearance that works beautifully with vintage, farmhouse, folk art, and traditional Christmas décor.
The front is signed “Design by Smiths 88,” and the original label on the reverse reads “ORIGINAL – Made in Illinois – BY: SMITHS… ’88.” These markings date the piece to 1988 and add to its appeal as a collectible vintage Christmas decoration.
The figure stands on a painted wooden base measuring approximately 6 inches wide, and the overall height appears to be approximately 15 inches. Please refer to the measurement photos for the most accurate dimensions.
Condition: Good vintage pre-owned condition with age-appropriate cosmetic wear. There may be light scratches, scuffs, paint wear, surface marks, and other signs of age and previous display. The back shows additional surface wear consistent with a vintage handmade wooden decoration. Please carefully review all photos, as they are an important part of the description and show the exact item you will receive.
A unique piece for collectors of vintage Santa Claus decorations, American folk art, primitive Christmas décor, handmade wooden Christmas figures, and 1980s holiday collectibles. It would make a wonderful addition to a mantel, shelf, entryway, holiday display, or vintage Christmas collection.
