Vintage handcrafted and hand-painted wooden Santa Christmas decoration, signed Mareta Reese 1988. This unique folk-art piece features Santa dressed in a deep red coat with textured fur-style trim, a long white beard, winter hat, and boots. Santa is holding a small woven basket and has a hand-painted doll tucked into the front pocket of his coat. X26
The piece has a wonderful primitive/folk-art appearance with hand-painted details throughout. Because it is handmade, the natural variations and brushwork give it character that you won’t find in mass-produced Christmas decorations.
The back retains its original “Handcrafted by Mareta Reese 1988” label and is marked #11, suggesting this was individually numbered. The artist’s name and 1988 date also appear along the bottom front edge.
Measures approximately 18 inches tall and about 7 inches wide at the base. Please refer to the measurement photos for exact dimensions.
This is a vintage pre-owned item and shows age-related wear, including surface marks, scratches, paint wear, and other signs of previous display and storage. The rustic/distressed appearance is consistent with the handmade folk-art style and age of the piece. Please examine all photos carefully, as they show the actual item you will receive and are an important part of the condition description.
A distinctive piece for a primitive Christmas, country farmhouse, Americana, folk-art, or vintage holiday collection. Its large size makes it an excellent Santa display for a mantel, shelf, entryway, or Christmas vignette.
