Vono Art Deco Figured Walnut Complete Bedroom Suite Double Bed Wardrobes c.1930s
A beautiful and unusually complete Vono Art Deco figured walnut bedroom suite, believed to date from around the 1930s.
The suite has striking figured walnut veneers, extensively book-matched to create the symmetrical grain patterns characteristic of high-quality Art Deco furniture. It has lovely curved and streamlined forms, particularly across the wardrobes, bed and bedside cabinets, together with matching wooden handles.
The furniture is marked VONO, the well-known British bed and furniture manufacturer founded in the late 19th century.
This is being offered only as a complete matching suite and will not be split. It comprises:
* Double bed with large figured-walnut headboard and matching curved footboard * Lady’s wardrobe, with generous fitted internal storage * Gentleman’s wardrobe, with hanging and internal storage * Two matching bedside cabinets, each with a drawer and cupboard
The wardrobes are particularly attractive internally, retaining their period fittings, including wooden hanging rails, shelving and unusual glazed-fronted internal storage drawers.

Condition
This is genuine vintage furniture and is being sold in used, unrestored condition.
The suite remains very attractive overall and the figured walnut has wonderful colour and character, but there are scratches, scuffs, marks and areas of wear consistent with its age and use. There is also some veneer loss/damage, most noticeably to one area of the bed, together with wear to some of the wooden handles.
I have deliberately included close-up photographs of the condition so that buyers can assess it accurately. Please study all photographs carefully as these form part of the description.
It would be perfectly usable as it stands, but would also make an excellent suite for sympathetic restoration or refinishing.
Both wardrobe retain their original keys.
Collection & Transport
Collection only from the ground floor of the property, conveniently located just off the A1 near Alnwick, Northumberland.
Please be aware that the wardrobes are large, substantial and heavy pieces of furniture and will require appropriate professional removal and transport. They are not suitable for one person to collect or move unaided.
We are very happy to liaise with AnyVan or another professional removals/furniture transport company of the buyer’s choice to facilitate collection. The buyer will be responsible for arranging and paying for transport.
The furniture is all situated on the ground floor, which should make professional collection relatively straightforward. The bed can be dismantled for transport.
Buyers should satisfy themselves regarding the dimensions, vehicle requirements and arrangements for removal before purchasing.
Please note that this listing is for the entire matching bedroom suite. I am not looking to sell the bed, wardrobes or bedside cabinets separately.
A lovely surviving complete Vono bedroom suite with particularly attractive figured and book-matched walnut veneers – increasingly unusual to find with the bed, both wardrobes and matching bedside cabinets still together.
