Chevrolet's Advanced Design trucks have long been custom builders' favorites. Still, few take the concept as far as this custom 1948 Chevy truck. Starting with a distinctive cab-over-engine (COE) design, this one-of-a-kind build combines vintage commercial truck styling with a custom-built cargo box, modern V8 power, and an unforgettable Neapolitan-inspired exterior.
Underneath the body is a 1980 Chevrolet P30 one-ton chassis with rear-assist air bags. Power comes from a 350 cubic inch Chevrolet crate V8 rated at 300 horsepower, paired with a Turbo 400 automatic transmission. Custom-fabricated smoothed wheels, including a dually rear setup, wear BFGoodrich 215/85R16 wide whitewall tires, giving this truck a distinctive combination of commercial heritage and custom street styling.
The hand-built cargo box transforms the truck's proportions, while shaved door handles and molded 1959 Cadillac taillights add carefully chosen custom touches. The Neapolitan exterior finish highlights the COE's rounded cab, broad fenders, and unusual silhouette.
Inside, tan cloth front bucket seats pair with a matching rear bench seat. A Budnik aluminum steering wheel with a leather-wrapped rim, Vintage USA gauges, Gennie shifter, and Vintage Air conditioning bring comfort and character to the cabin. Additional features include new tinted glass, Relic power windows, and an AutoLoc door-lock conversion.
This custom cab-over Chevy is an ambitious project, with much of the major fabrication and mechanical work already completed. The interior still needs final finishing touches, giving the next owner a chance to complete the truck to their own preferences. With its unmistakable COE styling, custom cargo body, 300-horsepower small block, and imaginative details, this 1948 Chevrolet is a memorable take on a classic American work truck!
