ALWAYS allow the engine to cool completely before draining coolant. Clean mating engine block surfaces thoroughly and install a new sealing gasket or O-ring. After installation, bleed all air pockets out of the cooling system to prevent localized hot spots, engine head warping, or premature thermostat failure.
