Description

This signed Greg Thorne sterling silver cuff is an exceptionally substantial square-wire bracelet, weighing 103.9 grams and hand-forged from a nearly square shank. Deep stepped geometric stampwork covers the outer face, edges, and interior, closely paralleling the dense all-over stamping seen on other documented Thorne cuffs.

Greg Thorne is an Anglo Southwestern jeweler based in Laguna Beach, California, and a longtime Sawdust Art Festival exhibitor whose participation dates to 1969. He describes learning jewelrymaking from Navajo and Pueblo craftsmen and working with earlier technologies and simple hand tools; Bonhams has cataloged his jewelry as work by an Anglo artist working in Navajo style.

Signed with Greg Thorne's figural pictograph hallmark near both inner terminals; no metal purity mark is present.
