Heroes of Karn + Empire of Karn Published by Interceptor Software (1983 / 1985) Media Format: 5.25 Inch Floppy Disk
Up for sale is a remarkably rare piece of retro computing history. While the cassette tape versions of these classic text-and-graphics adventures are relatively common, the premium 5.25 inch floppy disk editions are exceptionally difficult to find—especially preserved together as a matched set.
In the 1980s UK market, Commodore 1541 disk drives were highly expensive luxury items compared to standard tape decks. As a result, these folio disk versions were produced in incredibly small numbers and very few survive today.
What is included in this bundle:
* The Heroes of Karn (1983): Original premium cardboard fold-out Folio / Portfolio cover featuring the classic fantasy cover art. The original brown circular "Seal of Quality" tab sticker is still cleanly attached to the right-hand margin. * The Heroes of Karn 5.25 Inch Floppy Disk: Housed in its original white protective sleeve with labels fully intact. * Empire of Karn (1985): The official, highly sought-after sequel 5.25 Inch Floppy Disk, safely stored in its original white sleeve inside the main folio.
Condition Notes:
* Outer Folio Cover: Beautiful, vibrant colors. Excellent physical condition for its age with only minimal shelf wear. The fragile cardboard hinges are fully intact, not crushed or torn like most surviving copies. * Media and Disks: Both labels are crisp and fully readable with no peeling. Visually, the magnetic media looks clean and well-preserved. * Testing: Sold as vintage collector items. Due to the age of early 1980s magnetic media and not having a working 1541 drive on hand, the disks are untested.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a serious C64 completionist or big-box text adventure collector to add a beautiful, tough-to-find duology to their shelf in one go.
The item will be packaged with extreme care in a rigid, crush-proof box with plenty of bubble wrap to protect the cardboard folio during transit. It will be sent via tracked and insured shipping.
