• Discover this vintage Burrington Combe postcard (#PT6405), featuring the famous rock cleft in Somerset, England, associated with the hymn “Rock of Ages.” According to tradition, the Rev. Augustus Toplady sheltered beneath the rock during a storm and found inspiration to compose the beloved hymn. This color scenic postcard offers a glimpse of a historic English landmark and its enduring connection to religious and cultural heritage.

The postcard is postmarked in Great Britain and includes a Machin 9p stamp and an airmail label. Addressed to Ontario, Canada, it also captures a piece of international postal history--an appealing addition for postcard collectors, hymn enthusiasts, and anyone interested in Somerset landmarks.
