New, Authentic, Japanese, Women's Geta Shoes with Subtly Sparkling Pink Straps and Near Black Lacquered Wood (also called Zori, Thongs, flip flops, Sandals)
Japanese Size 24cm which is supposed to equate to maximum UK women's Size 5
This pair of geta shoes is a modern version of the traditional style. The base is made of light-weight but hardy wood which is paulownia (the label on the base says this in Japanese). This wood has a lacquered to a black, lustrous finish.
These shoes were bought from Japan and were made for the Japanese market and the labels are in Japanese, however, the labels says they were designed in Japan and manufactured in China.
The straps are soft and padded. The top of the strap is a deep red lustrous fabric with a subtle woven texture and little white dots. The underneath of the strap, where it touches the foot, is soft red, velvet-like synthetic fabric. The label says the fabric is polyester
These are a modern shape of geta shoe with a base made out of one piece of wood with rubber underneath. The straps are tied underneath in the traditional way. The label says the wood is paulownia which is the traditional Japanese timber used for these items.
The
older type of geta had two pieces of wood underneath and the wearer would
rock them back and forth when walking making a click-clack noise which is where
the word 'geta' comes from as it imitates the sound. Geta are the traditional
shoe to be worn with summer wear yukata and casual kimono.
SIZE: These are a fairly average size. Japanese shoes are usually quite small/narrow by European and US standards. If you want to wear them check the sizing before buying. PLEASE NOTE - I will not take a return because they don't fit.
In Japan, the same size shoe is supposed to be worn by many sizes and if the foot is too long, it hangs off the back. Some people argue that the balance in geta is better if the heel hangs off the end but it doesn't sound very comfortable to me.This pair are recently made. They are new with tags I think these shoes are perfect for wearing as sandals or with a kimono.

All information is to the best of my knowledge. Please bear in mind, that colours do not always show absolutely accurately on photos and on monitors although they should be close to reality.
My items are mostly vintage and are not returnable unless grossly mis-described, so please check the details and measurements before bidding/buying. Please be aware that vintage clothing does not usually 'look like new' even when it is in excellent condition. Some slight general signs of ageing and use should be expected. If these are conspicuous, they will be mentioned in the description.
Low feedback – For auctions, if you have less than 3 feedbacks, please email me before bidding. If you do not, I may cancel your bid and block you from bidding until we have communicated. Sorry about this but it is based on previous experience of problems.
Delivery Address – I can only post to the address shown on the ebay payment, otherwise none of us are protected by the ebay policies.
On post to overseas.- I am now using the eBay Global Shipping Programme, so the shipping rates are not set buy me. Once the item has left my hands, the control of the shipping is with eBay.
Please note that once the parcel has left my hands, I cannot accept responsibility for the performance of the postal services or customs in your country. Or for any customs or import duties/taxes charged in your country.
UK buyers Postage costs and Combined postage I can now only use Ebay's new "simple delivery" postal system. This seems to only offer one option for Royal Mail postage for a typical small parcel which is 48 hour tracked. I believe that the ebay postage system will combine postage if you buy more than one item at the same time or within a few hours of each other. If you buy items at longer periods apart, then eBay cannot combine the postage and I cannot change this, as the postage is now not in my control.
RETURNS POLICY – I do not take returns except in the exceptional circumstance of an item being wrongly described. Please understand that selling items on ebay and posting them out incurs costs to me, so please don't buy unless you have read the description carefully and are sure that you want the item. Except in the situation where an item has been wrongly described, the buyer is always responsible for return postage.
