PEN HOLDER / DESK ITEM

BRONZE SHE WOLF MARBLE BASE ROME ROMAN

This is a great old desk item featuring the Colosseum and the Capitoline Wolf along with a pen stand. The pen is missing but easily replaceable.

The left item is a Capitoline Wolf figurine depicting the she-wolf suckling the twin founders of Rome, Romulus and Remus, mounted on a dual-tone marble and stone base.

It is about 5 1/2” wide and 3” deep at the base and about 2 1/2” tall in total not including pen holder.

About the Piece

• Subject: The iconic Lupa Capitolina (Capitoline Wolf) from Roman mythology, showing the mythological wolf nursing the infants Romulus and Remus.

• Era/Type: This style of metal-cast (often white metal, bronze, or copper-alloy) figure mounted on a marble or onyx base was a popular tourist souvenir or "Grand Tour" item produced in Italy—frequently dating from the early-to-mid 20th century (such as the 1920s–1950s).

• Base: The octagonal or tiered base is made of contrasting natural marble or onyx, typical of Italian decorative stone crafts.

There is general wear from age and use including the sticker peeling up slightly on the right as seen in the photos.
