Please bear with this long explanation for this crazy pedal:
I bought this Vox Wah from an estate sale. I thought I was the luckiest person because I knew I had found was a 1967 Clyde McCoy original Wah pedal, signature version (the situation with the original bottom plate is in the fourth paragraph).
When it was opened up, it was not the Vox Clyde McCoy original electronics. After seeking help with what was going on with the pedal, the consensus of several knowledgable individuals was that the electronics were that of a Maestro Fuzz Phazzer pedal (fortunately another desirable pedal).
It was hypothesized that the early Fuzz Phazzers were in brittle plastic housings and that when one cracked it was transferred into the Clyde McCoy housing, with who-knows-what happening to the Clyde’s electronics.
I have sold the Clyde McCoy original bottom plate and feet. If you message me I can show you that that is indeed what I had, pictured on same table as the current listing photos. With the understanding of course that that is sold, gone and not part of this item any longer.
The current bottom plate is from a vintage ‘60 or ‘70s Vox Volume pedal. The screws on the feet have a little foil at the hole underneath the rubber because they were a little thinner than the original Clyde ones.
The pedal as it is with the Fuzz Phazzer inside sounds great. Once clicked on the foot control works very well, however I have had to click it on manually under the toe of the control because after gently trying, it wouldn’t click with just toe down pressure.
Please feel free to ask any and all questions so the you may buy with confidence!
