This is a vintage Ibanez JP20 jazz guitar, a signature model of legendary jazz guitarist Joe Pass. Manufactured around 1983, as indicated by the serial number on the neck heel, this guitar is a highly collectible Japanese vintage instrument. It features a full hollow body design, delivering warm, mellow jazz tones characteristic of full acoustic jazz guitars.
The guitar's body retains a glossy finish, showing signs of age-related wear such as minor scratches and slight binding deterioration, typical of a 40-year-old vintage instrument. The neck is nearly straight, with a string height of approximately 2.5mm at the 12th fret. The frets are mostly intact with about 70% remaining, though some tarnish and rust are present, which can be addressed with proper care. The fretboard shows no significant indentations or damage.
The instrument has been well-maintained, with no issues in sound output from the amplifier connection and no crackles or noise. The pickguard may not be original, as it was not replaced during previous ownership. The guitar exhibits a vintage charm with a rich, warm tone ideal for jazz performances.
Given its age, minor cosmetic imperfections and signs of use are present, but it remains a playable and valuable collector's piece. Japanese-made Ibanez guitars are highly regarded internationally, with similar models valued over 600,000 yen on overseas vintage guitar markets. This rare, seldom-available piece offers a unique opportunity to own a legendary Joe Pass signature guitar, perfect for collectors and jazz enthusiasts alike.
