Product Description:
This is a vintage Japanese-made Yamaha Studio Lord SL450S from around 1982. During this period, Yamaha produced a variety of Les Paul-style guitars, including bolt-on neck models and those with unique headstock shapes. The SL450S stands out as a set-neck model with a Gibson-inspired open-book headstock, trapezoid inlays, and two-point truss rod cover, closely resembling a classic Les Paul. It features a rosewood fingerboard, a maple top, and an agathis body, reflecting the craftsmanship of Japan's "Lawsuit Era" guitars, produced during a competitive period among Japanese brands like Greco, Tokai, and Ibanez. The guitar has a black finish, two humbuckers, and controls for two volumes, two tones, and a three-way selector switch.
Condition-wise, it shows signs of age with scratches, fading, tarnish, and rust on metal parts, adding vintage character. The neck is straight with no noticeable warp, and the fret remaining is approximately 70%. The original tuners have been replaced with Greco-made ones, functioning perfectly. The truss rod has not been adjusted since acquisition, and previous adjustment history is unknown. This rare, short-produced Japanese vintage guitar offers a unique glimpse into the era's craftsmanship and design.
