A scarce 1931 issue of The Advocate Annual, published by the proprietors of The Advocate at Burnie and Devonport, Tasmania, and issued on 2 November 1931.

Promoted on the cover as “Tasmania Today Illustrated,” this annual features extensive pictorial coverage of Tasmania, with particular emphasis on aerial views of towns and cities, regional scenery, agriculture, industry and everyday life during the early Depression era.

The striking colour cover depicts Dry’s Bluff, one of the prominent peaks of Tasmania’s Western Tiers, with the Liffey River near Deloraine in the foreground. The combination of early colour printing and distinctly Tasmanian subject matter makes this an especially attractive example of interwar Australian illustrated publishing.

A desirable piece of Tasmaniana with strong crossover appeal to collectors of Tasmanian history, Burnie, Devonport, Deloraine, Liffey River, aerial photography, Australian regional annuals, tourism history and illustrated ephemera.
