Charming vintage framed color print featuring Richard “Dick” Sargent’s classic “Frog in the Library,” originally created for the February 25, 1956 cover of The Saturday Evening Post.
The humorous mid-century scene shows a mischievous young boy hiding a frog behind a book while the librarian watches suspiciously from her desk.
The artist’s Dick Sargent signature is printed within the lower portion of the image. Sargent was a well-known American illustrator whose humorous scenes of everyday life appeared frequently on The Saturday Evening Post and in other major publications.
Presented beneath glass in an attractive vintage wooden frame with decorative carved/embossed detailing. The framed piece measures approximately 10" x 13" and retains its older cord-style hanging arrangement on the back.
A wonderful piece of nostalgic 1950s Americana and a fun choice for a library, reading room, office, classroom, teacher gift, or collection of vintage illustration art.
Condition:
Vintage and sold in as-found condition. Expected age-related wear is present to the wooden frame, including surface wear, small marks, and finish loss. The print shows age-related toning/fading, slight waviness from age, and a small crease in the image that was not able to be captured clearly in photographs. There are also visible areas of surface/image loss near the lower right corner, as pictured. Displayed beneath glass with older backing and cord-style hanging arrangement on the reverse. No bad odors detected. Please review all photos carefully as they are part of the condition description.
