Wonderful 1953 Cowlitz-Columbia Centennial Edition of The Daily News from Longview, Washington, published August 19, 1953 in celebration of the region’s 100-year history.


This is a substantial special-edition newspaper packed with Pacific Northwest and Southwest Washington history, including stories and photographs relating to Longview, Kelso, Rainier, Kalama, Woodland, Stella, Oak Point, Castle Rock, Toutle, Ryderwood, Vader, Winlock, Toledo, Naselle, Grays River, Skamokawa, Cathlamet, Puget Island and surrounding communities.


Inside are numerous black-and-white photographs, historical articles, early community and business stories, logging and shipping history, and an abundance of wonderful period advertising. A fascinating piece for a Cowlitz County historian, genealogist, local collector or Pacific Northwest ephemera collection.


The newspaper has not been individually page-inventoried, but it is quite thick and appears to be substantially complete.
