Chateau Rocher Corbin

With the Roman conquest, which began in 56 BC, the first vines were planted in the Saint-Emilion region. The marriage of Eleanor of Aquitaine to King Henry II in 1152 brought Aquitaine under English rule. This period favored the development of the vineyard.

The Domaine de Rocher Corbin is an old farmhouse belonging to Château Corbin, the stronghold of the Lord of Corbin in the Middle Ages.

This estate was acquired by Charles Durand in the 1880s.

Rocher Corbin has been passed down from father to son for four generations with the same passion for the vineyard and wine.

Since 1986, Philippe Durand has been dedicated to modernizing the property, with the utmost respect for the terroir, the environment, and traditional winegrowing practices. His goal: to produce one of the appellation's greatest wines on this exceptional terroir.

In perfect harmony with the environment, a very great wine is produced in the vineyard:

Yields are reduced through careful pruning for better concentration by plowing the soil (naturally, no chemical weed killers are used) by limiting treatments to sulfur and copper alone and finally

by harvesting the grapes at optimal ripeness,

by hand, cluster by cluster, in small crates to preserve the integrity of the fruit.

These manual harvests allow the grapes to be sorted first on foot in the vineyard, then at the reception at the vat (sorting tables).

The careful vinification work is also carried out with total respect for the grapes. No crushing to keep a maximum of whole berries. Low-temperature racking and fermentation in thermoregulated tanks. Pigage (the marc cap is introduced into the grape must) and reassembled to gently extract the substance and color of the berries.
