Head is a surreal, experimental satirical musical movie directed by Bob Rafelson and co-written by Jack Nicholson. Released in 1968 following the cancellation of the band's television series, the film serves as a deconstruction of the manufactured "Pre-Fab Four" image of the band. It features a stream-of-consciousness narrative filled with dark humour, critique of consumer culture, and cameos from notable figures like Frank Zappa and Dennis Hopper. It also features a landmark psychedelic pop soundtrack, though it ultimately marked the beginning of the end for the group's classic era, as Peter Tork departed shortly after its release
