Oxo Cubes – empty Tin of 144, 1950s Makes an Ideal Lunchbox..
This is a pretty good example of a 6 ¾” x 5” x 2 ½” empty Tin that once held 144 Oxo Cubes. It contained twelve boxes of twelve Oxo Cubes and would have been in a shop for people to take out one of those boxes. (I assume that they could have purchased the whole thing if they wanted?!) There are various slogans on the lid and the sides of the tin. “You’ll feel all the better for Oxo”. “There’s nothing like Oxo”. “Oxo Cubes for meatier meals, perfect gravy, an appetising beverage”. The lid shows the Royal Warrant. The rim of the lid states that This Tin makes an Ideal Lunch Box. It is also a great size for all sorts of storage purpose. As is common – there are small traces of old tape or glue where it looks that there were labels stuck on that have been removed. The tin is in very good clean condition. It has a very few tiny scratches but as the pictures show – it is better than most. It dates from the 1950s and after 70-ish years it would still make a really cool lunch box (!) but more likely it will be displayed and it does look really good.
