Antique 1911 New Year’s Postcard – Girl, Dog, Lucky Clover & Original 1¢ Franklin Stamp

Beautiful early 20th-century New Year greeting postcard featuring a young girl in winter clothing, a charming dog carrying a letter, four-leaf clovers and traditional good-luck imagery.

The front reads:

“May The New Year Be A Happy One”

The reverse is marked “Printed in Germany” and No. 5390.

This card was genuinely mailed and retains its original green U.S. 1-cent Benjamin Franklin postage stamp with period cancellation. The postmark appears to date from December 31, 1911, making the New Year’s Eve postal usage especially appropriate for the subject.

A wonderful piece for collectors of antique postcards, New Year ephemera, dog postcards, German-printed postcards, postal history and early U.S. stamps.

Antique pre-owned condition with age-related surface, edge and corner wear. There is a small tear/notch along the upper edge of the card; please see close-up photograph. The tear does not affect the primary illustration, original postage stamp or postmark. Writing and postal cancellation are present from the card’s original use. Please review all photographs carefully, as they are an important part of the condition description.
