Arcanine No.059 – CD Promo
PSA 9 MINT

This vintage Arcanine has an interesting promotional history in Japan.

The artwork was originally used for an unnumbered promotional Arcanine distributed through the Toyota Auto Campaign from October to December 1997, where it was presented together with a Pikachu card in a promotional booklet at participating Toyota dealerships.

The card was later reprinted as one of the promotional cards included with the Pokémon Song Best Collection CD, released in Japan on January 1, 1999. PSA identifies this version as the 1999 Pokémon Japanese CD Promo #59 Arcanine.

The Pokémon Song Best Collection release included a selection of special promotional cards featuring iconic Pokémon such as Charizard, Blastoise, Venusaur, Mew, Mewtwo, Snorlax and Arcanine.

Another interesting detail is the Japanese card name. The card is printed as 「ウィンディ」, while the standard Japanese spelling of Arcanine is 「ウインディ」. This spelling variation is a known characteristic of this Japanese promotional print.
