Original June 6, 1944 EXTRA edition of the Longview Daily News from Longview, Washington, reporting the Allied invasion of Europe on D-Day.

The dramatic front page features the large red headline “ALLIED TROOPS LAND,” along with “Liberation Army Hits Foe In North France,” “Big Avenging Force Heads Back To Paris,” and other early reports of the Normandy invasion.

Dated Tuesday, June 6, 1944, this newspaper captures one of the most significant days of World War II as the events were unfolding.

Especially interesting as a Pacific Northwest newspaper reporting the invasion to its local readership.

Condition

• Poor vintage condition with substantial age and handling wear. 
• There are numerous rips, tears, splits, creases, folds, edge losses and areas of missing paper, including significant damage through portions of the front page. 
• Paper is fragile and shows expected age toning. 
• Not entire publication from that day.
• Sold as found and exactly as photographed.
