Up for auction is this original Civil War Colt's Patent .44 caliber 2 cavity ball and bullet mold for the 1860 Army Colt and/or Colt Dragoon. This artifact represents a piece of American military history from the era of the Civil War.  By sight measurement, i believe it is a 4.44 caliper (I am not an expert on such things but the size seems to match most closely to .44 caliper).  Made of forged iron.  It is markede "COLT"S PATENT" but the mark is worn and hard to read...it is definitely marked, though!!   Made in the United States, this mold would have been used to manufacture ammunition for the Colt 1860 Army revolver, which was a popular weapon among soldiers during the Civil War. Its historical significance and authenticity as an original period item add to its appeal for collectors interested in Civil War memorabilia.  Some expected wear to iron.  Great antique patina!  I believe it once had a screw to hold down the sliding piece (I am not sure of this).  Being sold as found so please inspect pictures carefully!  NO RESERVE!!
