A striking and atmospheric Royal Doulton fine bone china figurine titled “Masque” (HN2554), first issued in 1972.
This elegant figurine depicts a mysterious Venetian lady wrapped in a dramatic deep royal blue cloak, delicately holding a decorative mask to her face. The rich flowing folds of the cloak and the theatrical pose give the piece a strong sense of movement and intrigue, beautifully capturing the glamour of traditional Venetian masquerade balls.
The glossy glaze and deep cobalt-blue colouring contrast beautifully with the pale porcelain of the figure’s face and hands, giving the piece a particularly sophisticated display presence.
Standing approximately 23 cm tall, the figurine makes a bold and distinctive addition to any Royal Doulton collection or decorative display cabinet.
This figurine was produced by Royal Doulton, one of Britain’s most celebrated porcelain makers, established in 1815 by John Doulton. Over the centuries Royal Doulton became internationally recognised for its fine bone china figurines, character jugs, and decorative ceramics.
“Masque” (HN2554) was designed by Douglas V. Tootle, a Royal Doulton modeller known for creating expressive and theatrical figurine designs during the mid-20th century.
The figurine was introduced in 1972 and produced until approximately 1982, making it a classic example from Royal Doulton’s highly collectible 1970s figurine period.
