This is an antique brass chestnut roaster from the 19th or early 20th century, traditionally used as a fireside warmer or crumpet toaster. The piece features a long, decorative brass strap handle with an integrated sliding latch mechanism designed to lock the container shut.

The main roasting pan is circular, domed, and heavily pierced with decorative dot sequences and "S"-shaped ventilation slits to release steam while trapping heat. The container features a functional hinge on the outer edge, allowing the lid to flip open completely. The handle connects securely to the body via two heavy rivets.

Based on the adjacent one-meter stick, the circular pan has a diameter of approximately 13.5 centimeters (5.3 inches). The total length of the piece including the extended handle is approximately 55 to 60 centimeters (21 to 23 inches).
