Estate find. Excellent antique condition. No damage or repairs. This thing is a huge 13 inches tall and a little over 11 wide at its widest point. The diameter of the top opening is 8 inches and the bottom is 6.5 inches. Weighs a whopping 4 pounds 6 ounces. The metal is very thin and presents as a solid silver color when cut with a razor knife. It’s also quite soft and didn’t resist the small thin slice like brass or copper would. It presents as possibly tin or some other soft metal alloy. There is no brass or copper present in the wear marks or in the small cuts that I made. Whatever it is, it’s solid silver in color. There is no uniformity in the holes or the repousse indicating all hand construction. There is also no seam present in the sides. The only seam in the entire piece is where the bottom was attached and the edges rolled over. The bottom appears to have been sealed with solder on the inside. Note the hammer marks on the smooth part of the lid. The lid fits perfectly and snugly. Please ask questions, as I am eager to share this piece with anyone interested.
