This is a vintage Japanese copper basket, uniquely crafted to imitate the appearance of a traditional woven bamboo hand basket.

The metalwork replicates the texture, binding, and weaving patterns of natural bamboo, featuring a flared body and a tall carrying handle[cite: 163]. Finished in a dark brown patina, this rare metal piece was originally designed as a kashiki (sweets container) for tea ceremonies. For modern homes, it can serve as a functional centerpiece for displaying fruit, holding wrapped candies, or organizing small everyday items.
