Vintage 48-star American flag measuring approximately 3’ x 5’. Constructed of cotton bunting with sewn red and white stripes and embroidered/appliquéd white stars on the blue canton.

Features a canvas hoist with brass grommets and an original maker/size marking. Includes the vintage storage box shown, which is handwritten “48 STAR AM. FLAG Embroidered.”

The 48-star American flag was the official flag of the United States from 1912 to 1959. This appears to be an authentic period flag rather than a modern reproduction, based on its construction, materials, markings, age/patina and original box.

Wonderful piece of vintage Americana with attractive age and character. There is age-related discoloration/toning, spotting, loose threads and general wear consistent with an older textile. Please review all photographs closely for condition.
