Description

Deep blue lapis and bright turquoise make a beautiful combination in these Ferdinand and Sylvia Hooee Zuni earrings. Six tapered lapis pieces are hand cut and fitted into sterling channels around a round turquoise center, forming a six-ray star inside the larger silver star. The rounded silver tips frame the stonework, and the fish-hook suspension lets the star drops move freely.

Ferdinand and Sylvia Hooee are Zuni Pueblo artists from jewelry-making families. Ferdinand learned silversmithing from his mother, Etta Lynn Laate; Sylvia's family worked in petit point with turquoise and lapis, and the couple developed their own channel inlay work.
