Pair of Charles Johnston Original Watercolour Paintings 1973 Bradenham & Fingest

A matching pair of original vintage framed watercolour and ink paintings by listed artist Charles Johnston. Both pieces capture historic Buckinghamshire country church settings in stunning detail, created in 1973:

  1. "St. Bartholomew's, Bradenham" (Dated May 1973) – Features the traditional English village church nestled in lush green countryside.

  2. "St. Bartholomew's, Fingest" (Dated Oct '73) – Features the striking, rare 12th-century Norman tower with its famous double-gabled roofline.

Both artworks are executed with vibrant washes and fine ink linework, mounted under glass within matching textured fabric mats and gold-gilt wooden frames. They make a fantastic, cohesive display pair.

Condition Notes:

Fair vintage condition overall. The watercolour colours remain bright and well-preserved but there is the light off mark here and there. Nothing that jumps out but one has a small watermark by the signature (see images for close up). The gold-gilt frames show surface scuffs and wear consistent with age but also possible scraped against something, and the backing paper shows normal storage age-toning as well as sticker or tape marks (not onto the art itself) please check images.
