Description:

Lladró "Picking Flowers," model #1287, a handmade porcelain figurine from Spain. This is a retired design.

A young girl with a brown bob and a wide-brimmed cream hat sits on a grassy base with her legs stretched out. She reaches down to the ground with one hand as if picking a flower. A bouquet of pink and white flowers rests in her lap with its green stems tied together. Beside her is a white woven basket with a handle, filled with pink, white and lavender porcelain flowers. A small white flower sits on the crown of her hat.

She wears a white puff-sleeved blouse with a ruffled front, a cobalt blue bodice and a pale blue skirt. It's the soft, glossy pastel finish Lladró is known for. The applied flowers are shaped by hand, with thin, delicate petals.

The base has the blue Lladró crown mark with "Hand Made in Spain" and "© DAISA," plus the incised model number 1287 and workshop marks.

Measures approximately 6.5" tall.

Please note: the small flower she once held in her reaching hand has broken away (see the condition notes). She still displays beautifully, and this is an affordable way to add this retired Lladró to a collection. It would also suit cottage or romantic décor.

Condition:

Pre-owned, with a loss. The small applied flower she held in her reaching hand has broken away. The green leaf remains, and a small break point is visible on her fingers where the bloom was attached. Otherwise no chips, cracks or repairs observed on the figure, the hat, the basket or the other applied flowers. The glaze is bright and clean. There is light surface wear and minor soiling on the unglazed underside of the base and its outer edge, typical of display and age. There are a few faint specks inside the hat brim. One of the bouquet stems has a fine line where it joins, which appears to be part of how it was made. Please review the detailed photos to judge condition for yourself. No original box or paperwork. Sold as is.
