• 1911 The Works of William Shakespeare Antique School Prize Book Ward Lock & Co

  • An antique hardcover edition titled "The Works of William Shakespeare," complete with biography, glossary, and index of characters. Published by Ward, Lock & Co., Limited (London, Melbourne, and Toronto) in 1911, this massive volume spans 1599 pages with gold-gilt text block edges.

Featuring dark reddish-brown leather-style cloth binding with a blind-stamped "WS" monogram on the front cover and gold-tooled lettering on the spine. Inside, the front pastedown includes a wonderful historical bookplate inscription: an Edinburgh School Board Parson's Green Public School prize award presented to Isa L. Coventry for Senior Class progress, conduct, and attendance during the 1912–1913 session.

Condition Notes: Fair antique condition with heavy wear consistent with age and heavy use. The spine cloth is severely frayed, chipped, and split along the joints. The text block remains thick and intact with attractive gilt edging, and the internal pages show minor age toning alongside the clean presentation prize bookplate inside the front cover.
