This
is an example of the classic 3 inch double block with swivel. It’s from Harken’s Mid-Range selection for
medium sized cruisers, not for your average dinghy.
This
block has a pair of grub screws so that the swivel can be locked off at 90 or
180 degrees if required, or simply left to swivel freely. (Rather odd to have a
swiveling double block when you think about it; the sheet could get twisted)
It’s
been lightly used, the casing and sheaves are a little faded, as is usual for a
block that’s been exposed to the sunlight. The D shackle is of course the
Harken 8mm original and in good order. The
sheaves are unchipped, run smoothly on their bearings under load and have very
little excess play. DinghyBits has seen
a good few of these over the years, new and used, this one has loads of life
