Pastoral drama / poetry (a theatrical play featuring shepherds and nymphs in an idealized golden-age setting). It tells the story of the shepherd Aminta, who is deeply in love with the nymph Sylvia. Sylvia prefers hunting and scorns love, but after a series of dramatic events (including a belief that Sylvia was killed by a wolf), true love ultimately prevails.
