VINTAGE PLEASANT COMPANY AMERICAN GIRL MOLLY BENNETT DOG – ORIGINAL FIRST VERSION – W. GERMANY REAL RABBIT FUR

An exceptionally clean original early-version Bennett, Molly McIntire’s beloved Jack Russell Terrier from the Pleasant Company / American Girl historical collection.

This is the desirable first-version hard-form Bennett, produced before the later soft plush redesign. The figure measures approximately 4" long × 4" high and is covered in genuine fur with the original cream/white coloring and factory-applied pale tan/orange markings for a life-like look and feel.

Unlike later American Girl Bennett dogs, this early example features the distinctive construction collectors look for: a rigid sculpted body, real fur covering, amber eyes, black molded nose, red felt tongue, and the original fixed red collar with metal leash ring.

Most notably, the underside retains its original gold “W. GERMANY” maker seal, a detail that is frequently missing from surviving examples. The emblem is associated with the West German Karl Schrickel / Original Fur Toys / Original Fur Animals tradition of small realistic fur-covered animal figures, giving this piece crossover appeal beyond American Girl collecting.

CONDITION

Exceptional vintage condition and remarkably well preserved. The fur is soft, full and clean with no visible staining. The subtle cream, tan and pale orange areas seen on the ears, head and body are the original factory coloration of the fur, not stains or discoloration. Eyes, nose and red tongue remain intact, and the original red collar is still present.

Please review all photographs carefully, including the close-up photographs of the underside maker seal and measurements, as they form an important part of the description.

A particularly nice example for an American Girl, Pleasant Company, Molly McIntire, historical doll, vintage West Germany, Karl Schrickel, Original Fur Toys, real fur animal, miniature dog or Jack Russell Terrier collection.
