Shining Mew No.151 – 2001 CoroCoro Comic Promo – Japanese Exclusive

A beautiful vintage Japanese Shining Mew (ひかるミュウ) No.151, originally released as a promotional bonus with the May 2001 issue of Monthly CoroCoro Comic in Japan.

This iconic Old Back-era card features Mew floating through a spectacular shimmering background, creating one of the most distinctive holographic artworks from the early Japanese Pokémon Card Game.

Japan-Exclusive Vintage Promo

This specific CoroCoro version was released exclusively in Japan and does not have a direct English-language counterpart.

Its unusual sparkling holographic treatment, mysterious Mew artwork, and unmistakable Japanese Old Back design have made it a particularly attractive piece for collectors of vintage Japanese Pokémon cards.

More than two decades after its release, Shining Mew remains one of the most recognizable Japanese-exclusive CoroCoro promos from the Old Back era.

Mercari Authentication – Sealed After Inspection

This card was purchased through Mercari’s authentication service and remains sealed in its authenticated packaging.

The Mercari authentication seal has not been opened or removed after authentication.

The original seller listed the card as having “no noticeable scratches or stains.”

Because I have intentionally kept the authenticated package sealed, my own condition assessment is limited to what can be carefully observed through and around the transparent packaging.

Condition: EX (Excellent)

The condition has been evaluated conservatively based on eBay’s official trading card condition guidelines.

This 1997 Japanese CoroCoro Shining Mew is in Excellent (EX) condition, presenting a beautiful overall appearance with vibrant holographic artwork and relatively clean surfaces on both sides.

The front shows minor signs of wear, including several small areas of edge whitening and light imperfections along the gold borders, particularly near the lower edge. The back also presents well overall, with some minor edge and corner wear, including small white spots along the bottom border.

No major creases or significant damage are apparent in the available photographs.

Important — Sealed Authentication Packaging:

This card remains inside its sealed authentication packaging. All current photographs and our condition assessment were made through the protective packaging without removing the card.

Reflections, dust, or marks on the packaging may affect the visibility of certain details. Please carefully review all photographs, especially the dedicated “Points to Check” image, for a closer look at the visible imperfections.

A beautifully presented example of the iconic 1997 CoroCoro Shining Mew, featuring vibrant holographic artwork and attractive overall preservation — an excellent choice for vintage Japanese Pokémon collectors who appreciate strong visual appeal with minor, clearly disclosed wear.

Authentication Package

The card will be shipped exactly as shown, with the Mercari authentication packaging and seal kept intact.

I will not open the authenticated package for additional inspection or photography, as preserving its current authenticated state is part of the appeal of this example.

Shipping & Protection

The authenticated card will be carefully protected against bending, moisture, and impact during shipment.

A special Japanese-exclusive Shining Mew with its post-authentication seal still intact — an excellent addition to a vintage Mew, CoroCoro Promo, or Japanese Old Back collection.
