A complete digital audio workstation for Windows, Mac and Linux, with three release lines, every architecture, and the developer's own manual on the media.
LMMS is a digital audio workstation: the arrangement window, the instruments, the mixing desk and the effects that turn a computer into a studio. This pack carries the project's own release files from three lines at once, so the right build is on the media whichever computer it is going onto.
The three lines are the current stable 1.2.2, the 1.3.0-alpha.2 preview, and the 1.2.0 build that is the last one the project published for macOS 10.8 through 10.12. Across them the pack covers Windows in 32-bit, 64-bit and on ARM, macOS on Apple Silicon and on Intel from 10.8 upward, Linux as two AppImages, and the complete source archive. That is twelve builds plus the source, and every one of them is the file the LMMS project itself published.
The developer's own manual comes with it. LMMS maintains its manual online and says on every page that a Markdown copy is available, so this pack carries those pages as files that read with no connection: both English sets, 1.3.x and 1.2.x. The 161 page PDF book for its older series is on the media as well. Nothing has to be fetched after the disc arrives.
LMMS documents itself online, and every manual page carries a Markdown copy. Those Markdown pages are what is on the media.
The figures above are the developer's own published minimums, taken from its manual.
If there is an issue with your order, contact us and we will make it right (including replacements for defective media).
Windows, macOS and Linux, with the correct build supplied for each, including 32-bit Windows, both Mac processor types, and Windows on ARM.
The pack reaches back to macOS 10.8 and to 32-bit Windows, and the 1.2.0 image is the last build the project made for the older Mac systems.
Both English manual sets and the project's published book are on the media, readable without a connection or an account.
Every installer, disk image and source archive here is the official release from the LMMS project, taken from the project's own download pages.
LMMS is released under the GNU General Public License, version 2 or later, with no monthly fee, no product key, and no expiry. The source code is included as well.
One purchase, no subscription, and no expiry date.
This listing complies with eBay's software policy. This is a lawful compilation of redistributable software. No paid, commercial, or copyrighted software is included. Every program fits one of these categories:
The LMMS name is used here to refer to LMMS itself. This pack is an independent compilation and is not endorsed by or affiliated with the LMMS project. The software box shown in any product images is a display image only and is not included. You receive the media only.
eBay's Verified Rights Owner (VeRO) program targets listings that infringe intellectual property. This listing does not fall into that category because LMMS's license already authorizes the copying and redistribution being done here. Buyers receive only the rights the original license grants.
How is this item delivered?
This is a physical item (USB drive or DVD) that will be shipped to you. Choose your format when you order.
Does this work on a Mac?
Yes, and there are five disk images so that older Macs are covered. On an Apple Silicon Mac running macOS 15 Sequoia or newer there is a native ARM64 build. On an Apple Silicon Mac running macOS 11 through 14 the 1.2.2 Intel image runs under Rosetta 2. On an Intel Mac the 1.2.2 images cover macOS 10.13 and 10.14 and newer, and the 1.2.0 image covers macOS 10.8 through 10.12. To check which Mac you have, open the Apple menu and then About This Mac: a Chip line means Apple Silicon, and a Processor line means Intel.
Is the manual included?
Yes, and it is on the media. LMMS maintains its manual online, where every page carries a Markdown copy, so the pack carries those Markdown pages: 78 pages for the 1.3 line and 74 pages for the 1.2 line, both in English. The 161 page PDF covering its older series is on the media as well. Together that is three documents, readable without an internet connection.
Can I move my work between LMMS and other programs?
Yes. LMMS imports and exports MIDI, so a track or a part of one can travel between LMMS and any other program that reads MIDI. Audio files of your own are loaded through the AudioFileProcessor and played as instruments, and there is a SoundFont player for the SF2 format. Finished tracks export to WAV, OGG, FLAC and MP3.
Where is my work kept?
LMMS keeps its settings in a file called .lmmsrc.xml in your home folder, and your projects, presets and samples in a working directory that you choose the first time the program starts. The first run opens a small window headed "Working directory" and asks where to keep them, so the location is your choice and nothing is written until you answer. Because both release lines share that directory, a project saved by the 1.3.0-alpha.2 preview cannot be opened again by the 1.2.2 release, so important work is best saved under its own name before opening it in the preview.
Does anything else need to be installed?
For the program itself, nothing. VST plugins are a Windows plugin format, and on Linux they need Wine, which the developer's own Linux page asks you to install from your distribution. LADSPA and LV2 plugins are native and need nothing extra, and the developer's manual notes that VST plugins do not work on Mac. The developer's own FAQ points to SoundFont and sample sources for extra instruments, which is optional.
Does this software need a product key or activation?
No. LMMS is released under the GNU General Public License, version 2 or later, so there is no product key, no activation step, no registration, and no account. It can be installed on as many computers as you like.
Is this a portable program?
On Linux it is. The AppImages run from wherever they are put and install nothing into the system. On Windows and macOS LMMS is installed in the usual way, because the program keeps its presets, samples and settings in a working directory that it needs to know about.
Do I need to copy the pack to my computer first?
For DVD orders, copy the pack folder to your computer (for example, your Desktop) first, then run the installer from there. DVDs have much slower read speeds than USB drives, and a DVD install run directly from the disc will be slow.
