A serene vintage Japanese hand-painted silk landscape depicting Mount Fuji rising above a traditional waterside village.
Rendered on delicate silk, the composition features a snow-capped Mount Fuji, evergreen trees, thatched-roof cottages, a waterwheel, rocky shoreline and vivid blue water. Gold-toned highlights and red architectural accents create a striking contrast against the darker foreground.
The painting bears a gold artist signature and traditional red seal/chop at the lower right. The artist has not been positively identified.
The reverse of the artwork reveals the image through the fine silk weave, supporting its construction as a genuine painted textile rather than a paper reproduction.
Likely dating to the mid-20th century, this type of Japanese silk landscape was popular during the postwar period and remains highly decorative in Mid-Century Modern, Japandi, Asian-inspired and eclectic interiors. Comparable Chairish examples are commonly categorized as mid-20th-century Japanese hand-painted silk artworks.
The artwork is currently protected beneath an older clear plastic covering that has been left in place to minimize handling of the silk.
Measures approximately 17" W × 14" H.
