Antique German Military / Cavalry Signal Horn – Later Bundeswehr Reworked
A distinctive old German brass military/signal horn, believed to date from the early 20th century, with a later modification from the Bundeswehr period after 1955.
The horn has the construction and aged appearance of an older German cavalry or military signal instrument, including the long conical brass body, flared bell, narrow parallel tube construction and applied decorative details.
A particularly interesting feature is the crossed swords and oak-leaf insignia attached to the body. The badge is visibly mounted separately and appears to have been soldered onto the older horn, indicating a later modification rather than part of the original manufacture. This is consistent with the possibility that an older military horn was subsequently reused or adapted during the Bundeswehr era, which began in 1955.
The exact original military unit and date cannot be documented with certainty, so the horn is offered with this historical interpretation rather than as a definitively identified regiment-marked instrument.
Antique condition with substantial age and service wear. The brass has dark natural patina, surface discoloration, scratches and marks consistent with age and use. The soldering around the later insignia is clearly visible in the photographs.
Please examine all photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the description and show the actual condition of the item.
A fascinating historical military collectible, offered as an antique German signal/cavalry horn with later Bundeswehr-period modification.
