A Rare Original 1982 Lancia Martini Racing 35mm Colour Slide

A superb period overhead action photograph of the spectacular Martini Racing Lancia LC1 Group 6 sports prototype during the 1982 season.

The photograph gives an excellent view of the LC1's open-cockpit bodywork and famous Martini Racing red and blue striped livery, with race number 51 clearly visible.

Introduced for 1982, the LC1 represented Lancia's move from the successful Group 5 Beta Montecarlo Turbo into purpose-built sports-prototype racing. The lightweight open LC1 chassis was constructed by Dallara and used a development of Lancia's 1,425cc turbocharged four-cylinder engine from the Beta Montecarlo programme.

The LC1 competed under Group 6 regulations during the transitional 1982 World Endurance Championship season, when the new Group C formula was being introduced. Despite the new regulations, the LC1 proved extremely competitive during its debut season.

The No. 51 was used at several events during 1982, so I wouldn't name the circuit or driver from this image alone. For example, No. 51 was driven by Piercarlo Ghinzani and Teo Fabi at Silverstone, while at Le Mans it was driven by Michele Alboreto, Teo Fabi and Rolf Stommelen.

Condition: Good vintage condition with age-related marks consistent with an original period transparency. Please study the supplied image carefully for condition.

MY SON CHARLIE SOON CAUGHT THE BUG TO AND HAS A SHOP CALLED MOTORING-MAN-BOUTIQUE AND IRONICALLY  MY DAUGHTER TRAVELS WITH THE GP CIRCUS AROUND THE WORLD AS SHE HAS ENDED UP A PRODUCER FOR FORMULA ONE ON SKY TV.

MY WIFE AND I HAVE BEEN LUCKY ENOUGH TO SEE LOTS OF GPs  IN EUROPE AND HAVE BEEN TO LE MANS EVERY YEAR EXCEPT THREE SINCE 1977.

 MY FAVOURITE CARS AND DRIVERS GO BACK FURTHER THAN MY MEMORIES AS I JUST LOVE THE 1960S SPORTS CAR RACERS. CHAPARRAL, GT40 AND OF COURSE THE 917 ARE ALL MY LOVES. I HAVE AN INTEREST IN JOCHEN RINDT AND HAVE ALWAYS FOLLOWED JACKY ICKX. MY BIGGEST INTEREST HAS TO BE THE 1930s SILVER ARROWS.

THROUGH THIS BUSINESS I HAVE BECOME VERY FOND OF MOTORING ART AND I AM LUCKY ENOUGH TO REPRESENT CHRIS DUGAN A VERY FINE MOTOR ARTIST AND A GENTLEMAN
