Pair of rare, early 20th-century "Victory V Gums & Lozenges" hexagonal four-sided toleware canister with a matching domed lid manufactured by Fryer & Co. in Nelson, Lancashire, England. Each tin features detailed, lithographed Chinoiserie/Japanese-inspired graphics on four sides and against gold and black floral backgrounds.

The tins originally contained medicated lozenges made by Victory V. Formed originally in the mid-19th century, Victory V became a globally recognized British confectionery brand. Before regulations ultimately changed the formula, these "medicated lozenges" were famous for their potent therapeutic ingredients, which originally included liquorice, ether, and chlorodyne (a patent medicine compound containing chloroform and cannabis extract).

Each tin measures approximately 9 inches tall (not including finial handle) by 8 inches by 8 inches. Base is approximately 4.25 inches square. Good color, oxidation to interior and exterior bottom. There are scratches to all surfaces, as visible in photos. One tin has a small ding to corner, and one lid a noticeable crack to corner as shown in photos. Light rust to interior. Lids have dents and replaced wooden finial handles caped with brass rosettes.
