Vintage slush-cast metal toy vehicle chassis/frame section by Barclay Manufacturing Company of North Bergen, New Jersey, dating to the 1930s–1940s era of their small cast toy vehicles. The underside of the casting is embossed BARCLAY MADE IN U.S.A., confirming the maker.
This is the lower frame unit only — the cab and body are no longer present. The piece is a hollow, channel-form casting that tapers slightly from one end to the other, with raised side rails, a small rectangular tab at the narrow end, and a round mounting hole toward the wide end where the body would have been secured. One original white wheel remains in place on its wire axle; the remaining wheels and axle are absent.
The orange finish is original and unrestored, with the honest wear and paint loss you would expect from a play-worn lead-alloy toy of this age. The exposed metal shows the gray oxidation and crystalline surface typical of period slush castings. It is offered as found — uncleaned, unpolished, and unrepaired.
This is a parts, restoration, or display piece rather than a complete toy, and is priced accordingly. It would suit a collector completing a Barclay project, a restorer needing a marked original frame, or anyone building a display of early American cast toy fragments. Please review the detailed photos, as they form part of the condition description.
Measures approximately 3-1/4 inches long, 1-1/8 inches wide, and 7/8 inch tall including the remaining wheel.
Contains lead alloy. Not a toy — sold as a collectible for adult collectors only. Keep away from children and pets, and wash hands after handling.
Condition:
Used, incomplete — sold for parts, restoration, or display. Cab and body are not present; this is the frame/chassis casting only. One white wheel remains on its original wire axle; the other wheels and axle are missing. Original orange paint with substantial loss along all edges, corners, and high points, exposing bare gray metal. Scattered chips, flaking, scuffs, and surface soiling throughout. The raw casting shows oxidation, pitting, and a crystalline gray surface on the unpainted underside, with light rust on the exposed axle wire. Edges are rough and irregular from casting and age. The embossed BARCLAY MADE IN U.S.A. marking is worn but legible. No repairs, repaint, or restoration. Structurally solid for its type. Uncleaned and offered as found.
