Good condition and guaranteed original French Mle 1866 Chassepot bayonet that is complete with matching numbered scabbard. Bayonet and scabbard also both have the colonial “anchor” marking. Bayonet has Tulle Arsenal markings on the blade spine and dated March 1868. Blade has original bright finish with some scattered gray and brown patina and some scattered scale. Guard has mottled gray patina with some pitting. Brass grip has attractive patina. Lock button and leaf spring function fine. Matching numbered steel scabbard has some rust and pitting, no dents. A hard to find colonial “anchor” marked Chassepot bayonet with matching numbered scabbard.
