Retired 2006 Lemax Spooky Town Collection “The Pillager” pirate ship, item #65409. This elaborate Halloween village display features a pirate ship surrounded by sculpted waves, a shark pursuing a small boat, numerous pirate figures, treasure, cannons, rigging, tattered sails and other wonderfully macabre details.
When operating, the ship slowly rocks while music and background sounds of crashing waves and howling wind play. There is also dialogue from the Captain and crew about gold and Davy Jones’ Locker. The cabin windows illuminate, cannon ports flash red in time with firing sounds, and purple spotlights illuminate the sword-fighting pirates on deck. Power and volume are controlled from the included adapter. Tested and working, as demonstrated in the video.
Includes the original Lemax 9V AC adapter, operating instructions, two-piece molded Styrofoam packaging and original illustrated box. Measures approximately 11” across and 10.5” high as photographed. For indoor use only.
The ship and ocean base are two separate components connected by wires. The ship must be carefully positioned on the base before operating. An added zip-top bag is included to protect the captain during storage; this may not be the original bag.
Condition
Preowned with age, display and storage wear. There is scattered paint and finish wear, including visible light-colored areas on the rear interior wall and wear to some of the small figures and details. Some of the white flecks or patches around the sculpted waves may be loose Styrofoam particles from the original packaging rather than paint loss. The Styrofoam has a tendency to shed small pieces.
The fabric sails have the intentionally ragged appearance of the original design and show some age and fraying. The masts, rigging, figures and other projecting details are delicate.
The original box is heavily worn and damaged, with missing cardboard sections on two sides. Blue tape remains attached because removing it would pull away additional printed artwork.
The places where the Captain and sword fighters rest looks to be once glued on. They aren’t at this time and are placed in the box. The last photo is the residue underneath on the ship’s deck where they go.
For shipping, the piece will be secured between its original two Styrofoam halves, which will be taped closed inside the original box. The box will then be wrapped in cellophane and thick paper for shipment.
See photos close up. Sold as is. Will ship safely in possibly recycled materials.
