Description
A delightful vintage Jema Holland ceramic figurine, mould number 170, dating from approximately the 1950s or 1960s.
This wonderfully stylised Mid-Century piece depicts a pink flamingo bending its long neck towards a tiny green frog beside its feet. Sculpted marsh leaves surround the bird, forming an attractive naturalistic backdrop.
Its most striking feature is the beautiful pearlised lustre glaze. The pink, cream, green and golden tones produce shifting rainbow highlights as the figure is viewed from different angles or under changing light.
Standing approximately 10 cm tall, the figurine is clearly marked Jema Holland 170 on the underside. The original foil studio label is no longer present.
Condition
Used vintage condition following long-term storage. There are no chips, cracks or repairs noted.
Some slight age-related surface and paint wear is present, together with expected marks around the unglazed foot rim. The lustre finish remains wonderfully vibrant and attractive.
