Description

A charming vintage Capodimonte bisque porcelain figurine representing Winter from an allegorical Four Seasons collection.

The winged cherub—or putto—is seated on a tree stump beside a small fire, holding a piece of wood to feed the flames. The winter theme is expressed through the bare tree, small fire and the cherub’s activity rather than through heavy clothing or a snowy setting.

Standing approximately 11 cm tall, the figure has a soft matte bisque surface with delicately hand-painted pastel details to the face, hair, wings, tree, ground and fire.

The underside carries a faint crown-over-N mark associated with Capodimonte-style Italian porcelain. This particular Four Seasons mould is also sometimes attributed to the designer Rori, although no clear Rori signature can be confirmed on this example.

Condition

Used vintage condition with some surface and paint wear from age and long-term storage.

The cherub originally had additional small pieces of firewood gathered with the stick he is holding. Some of these projecting wooden sticks are now missing. This loss is reflected in the photographs and price.

No other obvious damage or repairs have been noted. Please inspect all photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the condition description.
