This romantic Limoges France porcelain trinket box features a beautiful heart-shaped form, measuring approximately 5 cm tall and 11 cm wide. The lid is richly decorated in a deep cerise glaze, surrounding a central Fragonard-signed courting scene of a lady receiving flowers from a suitor, framed with elaborate gold scrollwork.

The exterior is adorned with gold floral gilding around the sides, while the base is marked “Limoges France – S 42” in gold enamel. This type of mark was common on decorative export porcelain from Limoges during the 1950s to early 1960s, particularly used by smaller ateliers producing ornate vanity items and giftware.

This piece comes from the estate of a private collector who began acquiring Limoges pieces in the 1950s. It was stored in a closed glass cabinet and only handled by the original collector, preserving it in excellent vintage condition. It has not been cleaned since the collector’s passing, so a gentle clean before display is recommended.
