Exceptionally Rare Early Production Variant Ansco Memo 35mm Camera!

Introduced in late 1926. While the vast majority of Memos were produced with a black leather covering, this one features the original, bare varnished wood body with brass accents. This wood finish was only utilized during the very beginning of the Memo's production run.

• Low Serial Number: Stamped clearly into the internal wooden base is serial number 1424. This puts production safely within the very first weeks of Ansco's manufacturing run in late 1926/early 1927.
• Cassettes Included: This unit comes complete with both of its proprietary internal film cassettes (the feed and take-up canisters). Because these are unique to the Memo system and frequently lost over the last century, finding a unit with both intact is harder to come by.
• Optics: Features the classic Ilex Cinemat f/6.3 lens set in an Ilex shutter.

CONDITION Notes:

• The camera is in poor, "as-found" vintage condition. The wood body shows authentic patina with surface scratches and honest wear consistent with its 100-year age. There back cover is a later version and does not match the wood body. The interior of back cover has damage and a strint in the connector to make the seal more light-tight. There is damage to the bottom edge of the back of the camera where it connects to the back cover - see scans.
• The shutter is non functional and will need repaired/serviced. It stays in the open position until the shutter release is pushed again and then closes.
