- Conic Geometry & Materials: It features a injection-molded, mica-filled polypropylene cone body. The mica reinforcement adds stiffness to prevent the cone from flexing and distorting under high stress, while remaining light enough to react quickly to rapid bass notes.
- Suspension System: It utilizes a heavy-duty rubber surround and a progressive-roll spider. This system ensures linear cone travel, keeping the voice coil perfectly centered within the magnetic gap even during maximum excursion (\(X_{max}\)).
- Interlocking Cone-to-Surround Attachments: JL Audio uses a proprietary manufacturing technique that mechanically locks the cone, surround, and voice coil together. This greatly improves structural reliability and prevents glue joints from failing over time.
- Thermal Management: The driver features Elevated Frame Cooling. This patented design introduces slots on the top plate of the motor just below the spider, which pumps cool air directly onto the voice coil structure during play.
