An antique hand-coloured maritime aquatint entitled Outward Bound: Off the Rock-Fort and Light-House, Liverpool.

The scene depicts a fully rigged sailing vessel departing Liverpool through rough water, with other ships, the Rock Fort and lighthouse visible in the distance.

The original image was painted by noted Liverpool marine artist Samuel Walters (1811–1882) and engraved by Henry Papprill. Examples of this engraving are generally dated to approximately 1859–1860.

Condition Note

Good antique display condition with age-related fading, toning, scattered foxing and small marks to the paper and mount. The wooden frame has scratches, scuffs and general wear consistent with age.

The reverse backing paper has tears, old tape and age-related wear. The print has not been removed from the frame, so its full condition beneath the mount has not been examined.
